2023 Kia Sorento
The Kia Sorento is a standout in the crowded mid-size crossover market. It has room for up to seven, a strong engine lineup, and a long list of tech and convenience features. For the 2023 model year, the Sorento has just a few minor updates. The S gains a wireless charging pad, and the SX has a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, power-folding side mirrors, and rain-sensing wipers. Take a look at some details for the 2023 Kia Sorento.
Trim Levels
The entry-level Sorento LX has 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, and heated side exterior mirrors. Choose the S to add roof rails, black exterior trim, and 18-inch wheels, or the X-Line S for high-utility roof rails and X-Line exterior styling. The EX has a hands-free liftgate, and the X-Line EX has a panoramic sunroof and 20-inch wheels. Step up to the SX for LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, and power-folding side mirrors, or the SX Prestige for upgrades in the cabin. The X-Line SX Prestige comes with the X-Line appearance features.
Engine
The base engine for the Sorento is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine that puts out 191 horsepower. It works with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The EX gets power from a 2.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engine with 281 horsepower. This powertrain uses an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive comes standard, with all-wheel drive available for any model.
Performance
Either of the Sorentos engines has plenty of power for the crossover, but the turbo four-cylinder has more passing power and towing capability while providing the same fuel economy. The Sorento is easy to drive and feels well-connected to the road when taking tight corners, and the ride stays smooth and comfortable. When equipped, the base engine can tow up to 2,000 pounds, and the turbo can pull 3,500 pounds.
Interior
The Sorento has three rows of seats and room for up to seven. Cloth upholstery comes standard in the LX, which also has a height-adjustable driver's seat. The S adds simulated leather upholstery, a power-adjustable driver's seat, heated front seats, and you'll get leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel in the SX Prestige.
Technology in the Sorento starts with an 8-inch touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but you'll get a 10.25-inch touchscreen in the S. This upgrade comes with a wired version of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety Features
Every 2023 Sorento has several advanced driver's aids. It comes with a forward collision warning, a driver attention warning system, automatic braking with pedestrian detection, and lane-keep assist. It also comes with Kia's Lane Following Assist system. This will steer the Sorento to make sure it stays centered in its lane. Speed Limit Assist is also standard and will warn the driver if they exceed a posted speed limit.
The S adds a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, and rear automatic braking, and the EX adds adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and an upgraded version of the forward collision warning system.
