How do you know when it’s time for a transmission repair on your Kia? It can be difficult to tell, but there are a few key signs to look out for. One of the most obvious is if your car is hesitating or jerking when you try to accelerate. If you’re noticing the symptoms discussed below, or others like them, it’s best to bring your vehicle in to a Kia dealer as soon as possible for a diagnosis. How to Tell When Your Kia Needs a Transmission Repair

1. Your Car Is Jerking or Vibrating When You Drive

If you’re driving along and suddenly your car starts to jerk or vibrate, it’s likely that you have a problem with your transmission. The transmission is responsible for transferring the power from the engine to the wheels, and if it’s not working properly, it can cause all sorts of problems. In some cases, the transmission may need to be completely replaced. However, in other cases, a simple repair may be all that’s needed.

2. You Hear a Strange Noise When the Engine Is Running

There are a few different types of noises that can indicate a problem with the transmission. One is a grinding noise that happens when the gears are not meshing properly. This can be caused by wear and tear on the gears, or by a build-up of debris. Another type of noise is a whining sound that is caused by a fluid leak. This can happen if there is a hole in the transmission casing or if the seals are beginning to fail.

Lastly, a thumping noise can indicate an issue with the torque converter. If this component is damaged, it can cause vibrations that are felt throughout the car.

3. The Gears Are Slipping or Not Changing Properly

This happens when the transmission fluid is low or dirty, or when there’s a problem with the clutches or gears. When the fluid is low, it can’t lubricate the gears properly, causing them hard to shift. Dirty fluid can also cause the clutches to slip, and it can make the gears harder to turn.

If there’s a problem with the clutches, they may not engage properly, which can cause the gears to slip. And if there’s a problem with the gears, they may not mesh together properly, which can cause them to slip or not change properly.
