It’ll be summer before we know it, but there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the lighter Spring evenings and our renewed sense of adventure in Orangeburg, SC. Whether you’re looking for a chance to connect with the community or to enjoy the best of nature, here’s our list of some of the best spring activities to try.  

1. Car Show and Craft Fair

Held May 6 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Downtown Market Pavilion, this fair will have something for everyone. Take the chance to admire and examine the craftsmanship and engineering of the finest vintage vehicles, and browse the wares of varied craft vendors. Food and entertainment will also be available, so head down to 1326 Russell Street to take in the sights.  


2. First Fridays Concert Series

Hosted by the Downtown Orangeburg Revitalization Association, the First Fridays Concert Series will give you the perfect opportunity to make the most of the open air while enjoying the convivial atmosphere and live music. The next event is “Street Dance”, which will be held at 6:00 pm at the Downtown Market Pavilion and will feature the popular local group Men of Distinction. Head down for a party in the heart of your town!


3. Orangeburg Festival of Roses

Held annually for the last 50 years at the beautiful Edisto Memorial Gardens at 200 Riverside Drive Southwest, this is an opportunity to see the spring blooms at their very best. The event is absolutely free and will also feature carnival rides, food carts, and live entertainment. A must-see celebration of the season, the Festival of Roses will be held on May 6 in 2023.


4. Riverbank Zoo and Gardens

If you’re looking for an opportunity for a family day out, the Riverbank Zoo and Gardens is ideal for making treasured memories with your kids this spring. Located at 500 Wildlife Parkway in West Columbia, this site has over 3,000 animals, including lions, tigers, giraffes, and gorillas. Children will also love opportunities to feed the animals, meet them at the farm, try out the Sky-High Safari course, and ride the miniature railway.

The Zoo is set in picturesque surroundings by the river and is the perfect trip for bringing the family together. If you’ve been looking for a reason to use all the seats in your Kia Sorento, you can load family and friends onboard and enjoy an outing to remember.
