1. Attend the Orangeburg Festival of Roses

The Orangeburg Festival of Roses is a three-day annual event at the Edisto Memorial Gardens. Ranked as one of the top events for tourists in the region, there is so much to do. Enjoy dance parties, road racing, music performances, and food in beautiful surroundings.

The event normally takes place during May and is completely free to attend. If you’re visiting the gardens outside of the festival season, consider taking a walk and enjoying views of the hundreds of species of plants. The gardens can be found at 200 Riverside Drive SW.


2. Kayak or Canoe at Congaree National Park

Congaree National Park is a favorite with outdoor lovers in the area. One popular activity here is to enjoy canoeing or kayaking in Cedar Creek, a waterway running through the park. As you travel down the creek, you might spot wildlife like otters, turtles, and maybe an alligator!

The park is located around a 45-minute drive from Orangeburg, at 100 National Park Road Hopkins. If watersports aren’t your thing, you can enjoy other activities like hiking in this beautiful outdoor space.

3. Play a Round at Hillcrest Golf Course

Playing golf is fun and it’s great exercise too. Hillcrest Golf Course, located at 1280 State A&M Road, is one of the best places to play a few holes in Orangeburg. This 72-par course measures over 6,700 meters and provides a good challenge for golfers of all abilities. After you’ve played, visit the clubhouse and enjoy some food from the grill, or stop by the pro shop for top-quality gear.

4. Ride Bikes at Southeast Outdoor Adventure Center

Southeast Outdoor Adventure Center allows visitors to enjoy the outdoors with an added dose of adrenaline! There are a range of tracks and courses for visitors to enjoy. Weave between cones and skid around corners or reach some serious speeds while heading downhill.

The Adventure Center can be found in Bowman, SC at 127 Dibble Street, around a 20-minute drive from Orangeburg. If you want to stay for longer, camping and cabins are available at the Adventure Center.
