There’s nothing like getting some fresh fruits and vegetables, and sometimes the sad and wilted offerings at the local supermarket just aren’t going to do it. There’s plenty of room in your Kia Telluride for all the fresh produce and baked goods your family can eat: so head over to one of these great farmers markets near Orangeburg, SC when you want to support the local economy and eat fresh.

Westbury Open Market

At 1553 Ridgewood Dr, Westbury Open Market is not the biggest spot you’ll ever find, but is full of fresh fruits and vegetables grown by the owner or other locals. They also have fantastic boiled peanuts here. If you’re looking for houseplants or flowers, you also won’t be disappointed.

They are open from 10am until 7pm, Monday through Friday, from 10 AM to 5 PM on Saturday. On Sunday, they are closed. Be aware that they are also only open during the growing season.

DORA Farmers Market Pavilion

Right in the heart of town at 1326 Russell St, the Downtown Orangeburg Revitalization Association (DORA) opens up a pavilion during the season to farmers from all over the area. The market is open from 8:30 AM until 5 PM on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. On Tuesday, they stay open just a little bit later to 6 PM. They are closed on the weekends.

You can also expect live music here a lot of the time (and dancing), so this is a fun spot, even though we also have to mention that you can’t always be sure of which sellers will be around on any given day and what vegetables will actually be available. You can be sure that everything will be fresh and that every dollar you spend supports local farmers and families. Consider this worth an exploration.

Bamberg Farmers Market

If you want to load up for the week and be sure of a great selection, we have to recommend the half-hour drive to 12205 Heritage Hwy in Bamberg. You’ll find the market right outside the Piggly Wiggly, on the berm.

You’re going to be guaranteed fresh and delicious produce, but also amazing baked goods, goat milk products of all kinds, eggs, sweet tea, barbecue sauces, and more. The market runs every Saturday from 10am until 2pm from March through November, though be sure to check their Facebook page for occasional closings around holidays.

All these farmers’ markets offer you a way to get the freshest produce while also supporting our larger community. And when you need service or maintenance on your Kia, support another local business and come see an automotive leader in the Orangeburg community: Superior Kia.
