Edisto River Creamery

When you want some barbecue, burgers, fries, or a chicken salad to go with your soft-serve strawberry ice cream cone, stop by this local favorite. You could also go all-in with a banana boat, choosing up to three different scoops of homemade ice cream to accompany a split banana and your favorite toppings. Edisto is also known for its homemade shakes, of which it serves a wide variety of flavors. two multi flavored ice cream cone

Adrian’s Ice Cream Shop

After dinner, grab your kids and head to this old-school ice cream parlor for a wide range of ice cream flavors and toppings. If you like your ice cream in a cone, Adrian’s is an especially great choice. They’ve got both traditional cones and larger bowl cones to add to your dessert experience.

Dairy O

Dairy O is another Orangeburg diner that’s known for both its food menu and its sweet treats. The ice cream menu is short but sweet. Choose vanilla, chocolate, or vanilla-chocolate twist to top your ice cream cone. But Dairy O is also known for its excellent malts and milkshakes. The flavor menu is more extensive for these products and includes pineapple, strawberry, banana, cherry, and Oreo.

If you’re feeling especially sweet, grab a Coke float. If you want to grab breakfast, lunch, or dinner first, Dairy O treats you to some excellent options – everything from sausage biscuits to corn dogs to shrimp baskets.

Sweet Frog

Instead of ice cream, you can always head to Sweet Frog for frozen yogurt. Here, you’ll find a wide range of soft-serve flavors. They might even have the most extensive menu in town. Highlights include toasted marshmallow, pink lemonade sorbet, pumpkin pie, or island banana. Sweet Frog also has gelato on the menu. Head over for Italian classics like tiramisu, pistachio, hazelnut, and vanilla bean gelato.

Calhoun Country Market

The Calhoun Country Market has a little something for everyone, including ice cream. Grab a pint of Clemson’s best ice cream, some Dippin’ Dots, or a frozen coffee drink right here. But there’s a lot more on the menu, including Calhoun’s famous sandwich stacks and their fully-loaded chili dogs. If you’re running low on orange marmalade or pineapple jam, there’s even more reason to get your ice cream from Calhoun Country Market.

Freddy’s Frozen Custard

Just outside of Orangeburg in West Columbia, Freddy’s Frozen Custard has a reputation for excellence. A visit here is well worth the 45-minute drive. We recommend starting with their signature turtle sundae or concrete. Kids love the dirt ‘n worms sundae, featuring Oreo crumbles and Gummy Worms.

When you’re craving a frozen treat in Orangeburg, South Carolina, you’ve certainly got options. Many of these Southern hotspots even serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner alongside some of the best ice cream in town.
