Kia has a new SUV coming to their lineup. In 2021, the Seltos will arrive in the United States and offer drivers another option for a compact SUV. Even though Kia already has vehicles in this class, the Seltos offers something new by combining the maneuverability of the Soul with a slightly longer body to give passengers more space and provide more cargo area. The Engine
The standard engine for the Seltos will be a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 147 horsepower. A CVT will work alongside the four-cylinder, and it will come standard with front-wheel drive and offer all-wheel drive as an option. A 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder will also be available with the Seltos, and this will produce 175 horsepower. The turbo engine will have a 7-speed automatic transmission as well.
The Exterior Look
The Seltos will fit in the lineup below the Sportage, and it will have a bold exterior look that is very similar to the Telluride. Expect to see Kia’s tiger-nose grille and bold lines to make it stand out. Kia will offer it in four different trim levels including the LX, the S, EX, and the SX.
The Cabin
Inside, the Seltos will have room for five passengers, and everyone will have plenty of headroom and legroom. The materials in the cabin are all high-quality and give it a refined look. If you bump up to the SX model, it comes with ambient lighting similar to the Soul that you can set to pulse with the music. The cargo area in all the trims is spacious with room for suitcases if you are headed on a road trip, and there is also room for backpacks or sports gear in the back.
Technology
All the Seltos will come with a touch screen display and Kia’s infotainment system that works with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Depending on the trim level, a 10.3-inch touch screen is available. It comes with navigation, and it has a split-screen feature that allows you to see the map and the directions as well as the stereo system information at the same time. Additional tech options include wireless phone charging, extra USB ports, a 7-inch color information screen for the driver, and an upgraded Bose stereo with eight speakers.
The Safety Features
Every Seltos model comes equipped with a rearview camera, hill-start assist, traction control, and both front and rear parking sensors. Some of the optional safety features that Kia offers as options include smart cruise control with a stop and go function, lane keep assist, and a rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist system. A new safety system for the Seltos is driver attention warning plus. This will monitor the driver for any signs of fatigue. The new safe exit assist system alerts all the occupants of the vehicle if a bicycle or motorcycle comes by when they are getting ready to get out of the car.
The new Seltos will have a lot to offer Kia drivers. This compact SUV has space for passengers and cargo, lots of technology, and a well-equipped cabin.
