Take the Kia and Check Out These 3 Great Views Near Orangeburg, SC

Known as “The Garden City,” Orangeburg SC is one of the top towns in the state to see beautiful and lush scenery. It’s also located near the intersection of South Carolina’s Savannah River, Midlands, and Lowcountry regions, so there’s a diverse range of environments to explore. Keep reading to learn more about some of the best views to enjoy when you’re in the area!

1. Edisto Memorial Gardens

Situated along the Edisto River, this gorgeous park covers over 150 acres and features the most extensive rose garden in the city. Visitors can view nearly 5,000 rose plants from 120 varieties, from rare miniatures to the vibrant pastel colors of the Noisette. The roses are accompanied by a variety of azaleas and cypress trees. There’s also a 2,600-foot boardwalk that will take you through the natural wetland located next to the Edisto’s north fork.

You’ll want to visit throughout the year, as the park hosts a number of events, including the Festival of Roses held every May and the Children’s Garden Christmas, which is a dazzling drive-through light display.

2. Lake Marion

Take advantage of the impressive towing capacity of your Kia Telluride by bringing along your watercraft when you visit Lake Marion, South Carolina’s largest lake at 110,600 acres. While traveling across this massive lake, you’ll be treated to views of rolling hills, marshes, and dense forests. The wildlife is abundant and chances are high that you’ll run into deer, foxes, eagles, turtles, or even an alligator or two.
While you take in the beautiful natural scenery, you can fish for several varieties of large bass, catfish, and bream.

3. Congaree National Park

Congaree is one of the National Park Service’s most overlooked parks, which may come as a blessing if you’re looking for some solitude. The park is notable for being home to the country’s largest tract of virgin bottomland hardwood forest, which forms one of the highest temperate deciduous canopies in the world. Helping to maintain this amazingly lush forest are nutrients carried through the floodplain by the Wateree and Congaree Rivers.
Several trails of varying difficulty are located throughout the park and impressively display its diverse terrain and vegetation. The Oakridge Trail features a field of large oak trees inhabited by deer and wild turkeys while the Fork Swamp Trail runs along an oxbow lake that was carved out by a hurricane in the 19th century. Avid kayakers won’t want to miss out on the Cedar Creek Canoe Trail, a winding 15-mile trek across the Congaree’s wilderness.
