Florence, SC, is situated close to beautiful parks with excellent campgrounds that offer access to a wide range of fun-filled recreational activities. With these excellent campgrounds within driving distance of Orangeburg, campers can choose between RV and tent sites with all the amenities for a comfortable stay or rough it at one of the primitive sites and experience nature at its best.

1. Lee State Park Campground

The park stretches out along the Lynches River and is the ideal setting for fishing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, and horseback riding through the hardwood forest and along the riverbanks. The campground has 19 RV and tent sites for family and equestrian campers. The sites all have full hookups with electricity and water. Pets are allowed in most of the outdoor areas but must be leashed.


2. Cheraw State Park Campground

The park has miles of hiking and biking trails and an 18-hole championship golf course. Here you can wander through the cypress wetlands, stroll down the boardwalk along with the 360-acre Lake Juniper, fish, and paddle over the water in a canoe or kayak.

The park’s RV pull-through sites are gravel-packed with water and electrical hookups. Six of the sites are right on the edge of the lake. There are restrooms with hot showers and a dump station. A primitive camping area is available for groups, and on the north side of the lake, there is a boat-in camping area at the old boat landing.


3. Little Pee Dee State Park Campground

The peaceful atmosphere makes this the perfect park for those who want to escape into nature. Here campers can fish in the 54-acre Lake Norton for bass, bream, and catfish and discover the fauna and flora in and around the Little Pee Dee River swamp.

The campground has 32 RV and tent sites with electricity and water and 18 tent sites with water but no electricity. The campground has restrooms with hot showers. A lakefront camper cabin is also available all year round for those who need a bit of extra luxury while camping.


4. Bass Lake Campground

Pitch your tent or roll in with your RV and pick an open site or a more secluded one between the trees. The pull-through sites can accommodate larger RVs and have full hookups with 20, 30, and 50 amps. The tent sites include electricity, water, and high-speed internet. There are restrooms, a laundry room, and a shop to make your stay more comfortable. The grassy primitive campground has grills and campfires and overlooks the lake.


5. Florence RV Park

This park has everything you need for a great camping experience close to hiking and biking trails and exciting outdoor activities. There are 128 RV and tent sites with water, 30 and 50-amp hookups, fire rings, and internet access. The campsite has restrooms with showers, a laundry, and an enclosed dog run. The recreational activities include fishing in the pond, horseshoe pits, a game room, a playground, and a sparkling swimming pool to cool off in. The park is open all year round.
